Small knots, or pilling, may form on the surface of a cashmere knit during use. This is completely normal for knitwear, as surface fibers loosen during wear and tangle together, especially in areas where the knit rubs against itself or other surfaces. Individual pills can usually be removed, and the correct maintenance method depends on whether the knit is smooth or brushed cashmere.
